Zaun In Edinburgh
Die Hauptstadt und zweitgrößte Stadt Schottlands ist Edinburgh
mit ca. 450.000 Einwohnern. Zu den markantesten Sehenswür-
digkeiten der Stadt zählen das Edinburgh Castle (ehemaliger
Sitz der schottischen Könige), der Palace of Holyroodhouse, die
National Gallery of Scotland, die National Museums of Scot-
land, die Princes Street sowie die Royal Mile. Der Park Princes
Street Gardens erstreckt sich zwischen Stadtmitte und dem ca.
100 Meter hohen Castle Rock, auf dem die Burg im 12. Jahrhun-
dert auf dem Basaltkegel eines erloschenen Vulkans erbaut
wurde. Wo heute zwischen beiden der Park und der Bahnhof
liegen, umgaben einst Sumpfland und Seen den Berg. Auf hal-
bem Weg zum Edinburgh Castle, durch einen wunderschönen
Zaun am Mount Place blickend, liegt die General Assembly Hall
of the Church of Scotland (Versammlungshalle der schottischen
Kirche).
Fences In Edinburgh
The capital and second largest city in Scotland is Edinburgh,
with about 450,000 inhabitants. The most striking sights of the city
include the Edinburgh Castle (former home of Scottish Kings),
the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the National Gallery of Scotland,
National Museums of Scotland, Princes Street and the Royal
Mile. The park stretches from Princes Street Gardens in the city
center to the 100-meter-high Castle Rock, on which the castle
was built in the 12th Century on the basalt cone of an extinct
volcano. The General Assembly Hall of the Church of Scotland
can be viewed half way to Edinburgh Castle, though the deco-
rative fence at Mount Place.
