Wie Paris mit dem Eiffelturm und Dubai mit dem Burj Al Arab
wollte auch Portsmouth ein außergewöhnliches Bauwerk und
Wahrzeichen das Touristen aus aller Welt anlockt. 2001 wurde
der 170 Meter hohe Spinnaker Tower als höchstes begehbares
Bauwerk des Vereinigten Königreichs außerhalb Londons errich-
tet. Auf drei Plattformen von 100, 105 und 110 Metern Höhe ha-
ben die Besucher einen tollen rundum Blick bis zur Isle of Wight.
Spinnaker Tower
Like Paris with the Eiffel Tower and Dubai with the Burj Al Arab,
Portsmouth also wanted an attraction in the form of an extraor-
dinary building and landmark to show tourists from all over the
world. In 2001, the 170-meter high Spinnaker Tower was built, the
highest building in the United Kingdom outside of London. On
three platforms of 100, 105 and 110 meters, visitors have great all
round views to the Isle of Wight.
