Kathakali Dance Kumily

Kumily is a famous trading center for spices in Idukki district in

the southern Indian state of Kerala. The city is located in the car-

damom hills near Thekkady and the Periyar Tiger Reserve. In Ku-

mily in the ritual and expressive dance Kathakali is enacted. The

dancers (man and woman)do not speak one word during the

screening of Indian epics about gods and demons, they use

only their hands and facial expressions to depict the scenes.
