Burj Chalifa Dubai
Das Burj Chalifa in Dubai ist mit 828 Meter das höchste Gebäude
der Welt. Seit dem Beginn der Baumaßnahmen in 2004 wurden
rund 22 Millionen Stunden an dem Giganten gearbeitet, dessen
Spitze noch aus 95 Kilometern Entfernung zu sehen ist. Zeitweise
waren 12.000 Menschen gleichzeitig im Einsatz. Sie verarbeiteten
330.000 Kubikmeter Beton und 31.400 Tonnen Stahl. Das Haus hat
160 Stockwerke – mehr als jedes andere Gebäude auf der Welt,
und nirgendwo sonst gibt es Fahrstühle (57 insgesamt), die bis in
den 140. Stock durchfahren. Hier ist es bis zu acht Grad kälter als
am Boden. Die Turmspitze schwankt bis zu anderthalb Meter im
Wind.

At 828 meters, the Burj Chalifa in Dubai is the tallest building in
the world. Since construction was begun in 2004, around 22 mil-
lion hours have been worked on this giant, the top of which can
still be seen from 95 miles away. At times, 12,000 people were
working in simultaneous operation. They processed 330,000 cubic
meters of concrete and 31,400 tons of steel. The house has 160
storeys - more than any other building in the world, and nowhere
else are there so many lifts (57 total), going up to the 140th floor.
At the top it is up to eight degrees cooler than on the ground. The
spire sways up to five feet in the wind.
