Englischer Löwe

Nach ihrer Thronbesteigung im Jahr 1837 hat Königin Viktoria den

englischen Löwen, als Sinnbild der Stärke, zum Bestandteil des

Wappens vom Vereinigten Königreich gemacht. In der Nähe des

königlichen Landungssteges bei Cowes, an der Nordküste der Isle

of Wight, achten die Löwen darauf, dass bei der jährlichen Cowes

Week Regatta alles seine Richtigkeit hat - und wehe nicht!

English Lion

After her accession to the throne in 1837 Queen Victoria added

the English lion, a symbol of strength, to the flag of the United

Kingdom. Close to the royal landing stage at Cowes, on the north

coast of the Isle of Wight, the lions ensure that during the annual

Cowes Week regatta all rights are upheld - and woe they are not!
