Süßwasser

An Steinen herrscht kein Mangel in der Region des Rothang

Passes (ca. 3900 Meter, in der Nähe von Jilang, indischer Bundes-

staat Himachal Pradesh). Der Himalaya ist als jüngstes Gebirge

der Welt (mehr als 40 Gipfel mit einer Höhe von über 7000 Metern)

reich an Gletscher Ressourcen. Die Region hat außerhalb des

Süd- und Nordpols das meiste Süßwasser. Durch die Veränderung

der indischen Kontinentalplatte nach Norden wird die eurasische

Platte verdrängt - Jahr für Jahr um einige Zentimeter. Hohe Tempe-

raturwechsel, Eis, Schnee und Regen tun das übrige. Diese ständi-

gen Veränderungen sind für jeden Trekker sichtbar.

Sweet Water

There is no shortage of rocks in the region of the Rothang pass

(at about 3900 feet, near Jilang, in the Indian state of Himachal

Pradesh). The Himalayas are the youngest mountains in the world

(more than 40 peaks with an altitude over 7,000 meters) high in

glacier resources. The region outside the South and North Pole,

with the most fresh water. As the Indian continent changes to-

wards the north, the Eurasian shelf is displaced - year after year

by a few centimeters. High changes in temperature, ice, snow

and rain do the rest. These constant changes are visible to any

Trekker.
