Die majestätische Sheikh-Zayed-bin-Sultan-Al-Nahyan-Moschee ist
ein überaus beeindruckendes Wahrzeichen von Abu Dhabi. Bei
der Errichtung der Großen Moschee waren Architekten, Ingenieu-
re, Lieferanten, sowie Materialien und Ausstattungen aus nahezu
allen Erdteilen der Welt beteiligt: Italien, Deutschland, Marokko,
Indien, Türkei, Iran, China, Griechenland und die Vereinigten Ara-
bischen Emirate. Die Moschee wurde mit mehr als 20.000 hand-
gefertigten Marmorplatten versehen, in die Halbedelsteine wie
Lapislazuli, Achate, Amethyste, Abalone-Muscheln und Perlmutt
eingelassen sind. Die Gebetshallen sind mit weißem italienischem
Marmor mit eingelegten Blumenmustern verziert; die Innenwände
mit dekorativen Glasmosaiken mit 24-karätigem Gold.

The majestic Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque is the
most impressive landmark of Abu Dhabi. In the construction of
the Great Mosque architects, engineers, suppliers, materials and
equipment were used from nearly every corner of the world: Italy,
Germany, Morocco, India, Turkey, Iran, China, Greece and the
United Arab Emirates. The mosque has more than 20,000 hand-
made marble slabs, embedded with semi-precious stones such
as lapis lazuli, agate, amethyst, abalone and mother of pearl. The
prayer halls are decorated with white Italian marble inlaid with
floral designs, the interior walls with decorative glass mosaics with
24-carat gold.
